The K Club Golf Course
The
Kildare Country Club, known as The K Club, was developed by the Jefferson Smurfit
Group - one of Ireland’s largest companies. The Estate, which they acquired in
1988, is rich in history and dates back to the 6th century. The club
is located about 15 miles west of Dublin, just into County Kildare.
Designed by Arnold Palmer, it is one of
the newest additions to Irish golf. Palmer produced a fantastic
layout, which cleverly uses the existing woodland and water. The
course has already hosted the 1992 and 1993 Irish Professional Golf
Championship. The Smurfit European Open, which is ranked in the
top 5 tournaments on the European Tour, has been held at the K Club
from 1995 to 1998. The course offers golf in lush, wooded surroundings
bordered by the river Liffey.
Visitors are welcome daily except 1:30 pm
to 2:30 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am thru 1:00 pm. Facilities at the
club are second to none and there is a wide choice of sporting and
non sporting activities.
