Royal Dublin Golf Course
Generally, links courses are in remote, even desolate areas
(therein the charm) but this equally charming one is only 3.5 miles from the centre
of Dublin, on Bull Island, a bird sanctuary. It's the second-oldest club in Ireland
and is designed in the old tradition of seaside links: the front nine goes out
in a line (wind helping) and the back nine comes back in a line (wind against).
So, don't expect to make a comeback on the way home if you struggled going out.
Visitors are welcome Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays. If you require a caddy please give advance
notice.
